  St Albans Chamber Choir perform Maurice Durufle's Requiem under the inspired baton of conductor John Gibbons complemented by four 20th century works of English mysticism:
 Magnificat for double choir: Charles Villiers Stanford;
 Psalm 130  : George Lloyd
Song of the Soul  : Edmund Rubbra (1952);
At the Round Imagined Earth’s Corners (from Seven Songs of Farewell)    : Hubert Parry (1918).
In his 1947 Requiem, Maurice Duruflé blended themes from the Gregorian plainchant Mass of the Dead with mid-20th century rhythms and harmonies to create a work of great spiritual intensity. His consummate skills as an organist are demonstrated in the accompaniment, which fully matches the calm and meditative character of the vocal parts.

Nicholas Freestone organ
Helen Charlston mezzo-soprano
Andrew Shepstone baritone
